Question:
Hi, just ordered a Yakima Fullback Bike Rack for a 2020 BMW X3 SUV. Can you confirm that I shouldnt open the back/hatch door with the bike rack on? And, is there a passive security strap or something you can suggest to secure the bike rack, and more importantly, the bikes, from theft. Thank you

Expert Reply:
Yes. You won't want to open the rear hatch with the Yakima FullBack 2 # Y02634 attached because the hooks could get pinched and damage your 2020 BMW X3. The great thing about the Yakima FullBack is that it comes with a security lock to keep the rack attached to the car as well as a cable lock that extends from the front of the right arm, wraps around your bikes, and secures to a post built into the arm; this means you won't need any additional security unless you're looking for something additional.
If you wanted to go the extra mile, you could use a cable lock like the etrailer Cable Lock - 10' Long - 5/16" Diameter - Steel - Keyed Alike # e98891, which can be wrapped around the bikes and the rack to provide an additional layer of security.
