Looking for help, if this will work, or best option for my 2018 Cadillac xt5 for extra room on girls car trip out west this Feb. Any help or suggestions? Do I need the light kit so tail lights visible when folded up?

For your 2018 Cadillac XT5 the etrailer folding cargo carrier part # E98874 would be a great option to allow you to carry extra cargo on your trip. Since the floor of the carrier is mesh too that means your taillights would easily still be visible when folded up like you can see in the attached picture. Also keep in mind you have a third brake light up high above the rear windshield as well.
If you needed a trailer hitch on your 2018 XT5 the Draw Tite part # 76022 would be a great choice too.
