Troubleshooting MaxxFan 4700K That Lid Doesn't Open

Question:

Fan: maxxfan-white-4700k s/n 2013-04-4700k-0315 I have this fan in the bathroom. The fan works but the lid doesnt open. I can hear gear knocking sound. When I manually turn the knob it will open but also sounds like its stripped. Is there something I can replace with replacing the whole fan?

It sounds like the operator mechanism is going out; normally you won't be able to even use the manual opening knob when this is the case, but saying that it's making the same sound leads me to believe that at some point in the near future that's going to stop working for you as well. To replace that on your MaxxFan 4700k you'll want to use the Replacement Operator Mechanism for MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus or MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vents # MA10-20281K-1AF.
