I have 2009 Ford xlt econoline extended van. It’s pre wired with 7/4 pin connector by the factory trailer hitch. I’m looking for your recommendation on a brake controller and maybe a quick how to to install it. I only tow smaller 2 axel trailers with E brakes.

For your 2009 Ford XLT Econoline extended van, your 7-way will give you a connection for a brake controller under your dash. I recommend using the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # RED44FR with the Redarc Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers # 331-TPH-005.
I've attached an install video to assist with the install, but it is on a different vehicle. It will install the same way though.
