Install Kit for Prodigy P3 Brake Controller in 2018 BMW X2 with 4-Way

Question:
I was supposed to be getting a brake controller installed on my car today at a trailer dealer so I could pick up my new camper. They told me they would not touch my car as it has to many bells and whistles and to hard wire it they could set off sensors etc, They had only tried to install a brake controller on one other BMW and they could not get it to work?? They told me to take my car to BMW and have them install it. I purchased my trailer hitch from etrailer last year with a 4 pole wire harness and had my mechanic install it without any issues. I pull my boat and utility trailer and he had zero issues installing that kit in my car, Im wondering if I purchased the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer brake controller with ETBC7 installation kit would that be all my mechanic needs to get this installed? Or do I really need to bring my car to BMW and have them install it?

Brake controller installs can seem overwhelming to some, especially if the vehicle is a newer BMW, but the process is pretty simple and doesn't require getting into the computer of the vehicle like who you talked to implied. So long story short all your mechanic would need to install the Prodigy P3 part # 90195 is the part # ETBC7 and you'd be set.
