Question:
OK. I have installed the Curt 7 pin harness and have received my Echo Controller. I get no light on the Echo when I plug it in. I have checked the three fuses suggested and gone through the ign on, brake pushed and in gear process. Still nothing. Which pin doe the Echo 51180 pick up its voltage from. I assumed it is the black lead at position 1oclock 12Aux. I have no 12v there no matter what I do. On the dash when I go through the setup and get to trailer I get a Precondition not met, See manualinch I can find nothing in the manual about this message. Any ideas?????????????????????

I spoke with my contact at Curt regarding the issue you're having, and outlined all the steps you'd taken to this point, making sure the fuses for that 12-v circuit are in place, pushed the brake pedal and going through the setup process. I was told that even though you've gone through all those steps, you still WILL NOT show any power on that 12-V circuit on the 1:00 pin unless a trailer is plugged in. The so called 'smart' trailer connector won't deliver voltage on that circuit unless it senses a load on that circuit. So, long story short, you won't get the green LED unless there's a trailer plugged into the # C51180 Echo.
If you've already tried that, please let me know and we'll look into other possibilities.
