Question:
I am in the market for a weight distribution hitch. The camper I will be towing has a GVWR of 3,790lb and a tongue weight of 318lb dry Im sure it will be over 500 with dual propane, battery, tools, etc. Roughly measuring my hitch height and tongue height, I need about 5-6 of drop. Most of the ones I have seen have a drop of 2.5-3 except for more expensive options. I really want to stay around $300 for the hitch setup. Can I purchase a WD hitch without the shank, and purchase a longer drop shank separately?

The best bargain orientated setup that covers everything you need would be the Reese weight distribution system part # RP66020 which has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs and also does not come with a shank so that you can select one that has more drop like you'd need. Then for a shank you'd need the # EQ90-02-4300 and you'd be set.
