Need to purchase a 5th wheel hitch for 2019 Ford F150 5.5 bed, FX4. Was planning on a BandW hitch coupled with Flex Air pin box. Concerned about cab clearance. What is your recomended combination? Thanks,

For your 2019 Ford F-150 FX4 with 5.5 foot bed, I recommend the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BW39FR. Then I recommend using the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 18,000 lbs # BWRVK3255 for your hitch.

Because of the very short bed on your truck the only option for a pin box is to use a Sidewinder pin box which has a rotating turret that puts the pivot point back 22 inches from the hitch. This is what offers the turning clearance from your cab for safety pulling a 5th wheel. To know which Sidewinder is the right fit for your pin box, you will need to look at your pin box for a manufacturer marking or sticker. Normally there is one right on the pin box itself. You then will also use the 5th Airborne Custom Wedge for B&W Fifth Wheels # SWW-06 to be a custom fit to keep the king pin from moving and ensuring the movement is only in the rotating turret. There often is an air ride option for a Sidewinder if you also want a smoother connection to your vehicle.
