Question:
Hi, I have a question about the ratings for suspension leveling/load kits. If a kit is rated for 5000 lbs is that per side? For example: I have a 2015 Silverado 4x4, Tow Rating of 9200 lbs. I am looking at a camper at 6000 lbs empty. So I am thinking something rated in the 7500-8500 lb range but those seem to be for HD trucks. Thanks

That's a good question, and the air bag capacity is the total capacity and not per side. Having said that, the capacity is just designed to help support the tongue weight - the weight on the rear axle of your 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 - so air bags rated at 7,500 lbs on your truck would definitely be overkill, which is why the ones that fit your Chevy are only rated for up to 5,000 lbs.
I really like the Air Lift air bags for your 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500, as they are a high-quality air bag with particularly durable mounting hardware so these are the option I'd go with, and the correct fit for your Chevy depends on your bed size.
- 8 Foot Bed: Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57211
- Short Bed: Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57204
During the installation of these air bags, you are going to want to ensure your air lines are cut perfectly straight, and the best way to do this is by using the Air Hose Cutter # AL10530.
Also, I do highly recommend adding a compressor so you can adjust the air pressure in the bags from the comfort of your truck's cab, and you can get one that is more budget-friendly with an analog gauge, or go with a remote/Bluetooth option for the ultimate in convenience. Either of the following options will be great for your set up:
- Air Lift WirelessONE Compressor System for Air Helper Springs - Remote - Bluetooth - EZ Mount # AL25980EZ
- Air Lift Load Controller II Compressor System for Air Helper Springs # AL25592
