The Flash Solid Steel HD Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # FA49-00-5925 does have a bit of side-to-side play against the drop-bar, and this is typical of all two-piece adjustable ball mounts. How much play depends on the manufacturer, but typically it is within 1/8" or so.

If you are concerned about this side-to-side play on your ball mount, I recommend something like the # DTSTBM7025, which is capable of up 10" drop and 11" rise, and fits a 2-1/2" hitch receiver. Fastway's Solid-Tow adjustable ball mounts have virtually no side-to-side play in them, so they really help to reduce noise that you would have on other types of adjustable ball mounts.
