Question:

I have a 2020 Ram 3500 4x4 Crew Cab with 8’ foot box. Without oem puck system. My old truck had puck system, so I currently have Curt A16 head with Curt puck system legs. I have had good experiences with the A16. I’d like to see my different options. What would be an easy to install rail kit? If I stay with Curt what would be the economical or best option? Also if I went to a larger capacity hitch what is the best and most economical option?

The rail kit I recommend for your 2020 Ram 3500 8 Foot Bed is the Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP56010-53 which will install without drilling holes in your frame, and will allow you to use any fifth wheel trailer hitch that is made for industry standard rails (ISR). I included a video of the Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit # Rp56010-53 being installed on a 2013 Ram 3500 for you to take a look at.

Since you already have a Curt A16 I recommend using the Curt Replacement Base Legs for Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16920 to convert your Curt A16 head to work with industry standard rails which would be the most economical option for you.

If you are looking to upgrade to a larger capacity hitch I recommend the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # C16130 due to its dual jaw locking securely on the king pin to give you 360 degree coverage and increased safety.
