Will Moving the Head Behind the Rear Axle on B&W Companion Affect Ride Quality

Right now my hitch is set in the over axle position. If I moved to the two inch behind axle position to gain more room for trailer to cab would that totally change how it tows? Total weight of the camper is 10,000 pounds loaded. Truck is Ram 2500 with 6’4 bed. Two more inches don’t seem like much but I’ll take it if it won’t affect anything. I was told by the RV dealer that the wedge of our turning point pin box will not fit our hitch properly and they felt I had plenty of room anyway.

In regards to the B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter part # BWRVK3500, this is designed for long bed trucks. The B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter part # BWRVK3400 on the other hand is designed for short bed trucks. In regards to the position of the pivot arms, these can be adjusted to move the king pin slightly behind the rear axle but not enough to make full turns with a short bed truck. They will also have an affect on ride quality as well as the further you move the kin pin away from the rear axle, the worse the ride will be. In regards to a rotating pin box, these are not allowed with the B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter so you will need to replace this or lock it out if applicable.
Therefore, the solution is to switch to the Replacement Slider Base for B&W Companion part # BWRVB3405. There are many that try and use the fixed version on a short bed but these are the problems they run into.
