Does 2016 GMC Canyon Require Diode When Installing Tow Pro Liberty Brake Controller

Question:

I just purchased a #RED24FR from etrailer for my 2016 GMC Canyon and am in the process of installing. The manual that came with the RED24FR states on page 3 that in some situations a diode will be required to prevent a backfeed into the vehicle when the override switch on the RED24FR is pressed. Since my GMC came with a factory installed wiring harness under the left side kick panel does the diode issue apply to my installation ?

You will not need to install a diode of any type when installing the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty part # RED24FR since you are using brake controller wiring already present on the vehicle from the factory.
