Replacement Motor for Power Gear Slide Out Motor 524793

Question:
I have a small bedroom slide-out on a National Dolphin motorhome which is driven by a Power Gear P/N 524793 motor/gear unity. The motor runs however the slide-out can’t be retracted manually ......it is locked-up. I see a crack in the gear part of the assembly. Can one replace the gear unity and use the old motor? Does the motor assembly lock-up automatically to hold the slide-out in during travel ............ I don’t see any other thing that holds the slide-out in-board?

The correct replacement slide-out motor to replace your Power Gear Slide-Out Motor 524793 is the Replacement Gear Motor Assembly for Lippert Componenents Slide-Out Motor Assembly part # LC368227. Just the gears or gear box of this is not available. The motor does have an internal brake basically so that it doesn't move.
