Question:
Hello, I cant seem to get a straight answer from Kia, seeing if you can clarify. We have a 2014 Kia Sorrento EX V6 without tow package that we are converting to be able to tow. Weve determined our tow capacity is 3,500 lbs, but cant get a firm number on our Hitch Capacity/Max tongue weight. Is that determined by the hitch or the vehicle? Or both? Thanks for your help. We purchased. this hitch C13152

Expert Reply:
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13152 has a tow and tongue weight rating that is tested independently of the vehicle. The towing capacity of your vehicle is 3,500 lbs and tongue weight of 350 lbs max from the manufacturer. This will be the limiting capacity even though the hitch receiver is rated higher.
