Question:
Is there a folding cargo carrier for a Honda Fit? I want to tow the car behind an RV and use the carrier to tote water and waste containers from dry camping sites. I havent bought the car yet so I wonder if there is a difference between years. Thanks,

There is not a difference between the 2009 to 2013 Honda Fit as far as the size of hitch that will fit and the maximum amount of weight it can carry. The Honda Fit will use a Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitch with a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs.
For a hitch that fits a 2009 to 2013 Honda Fit I would recommend the Curt Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # C11064. I am including a link to the installation instructions and a link to a video of the hitch being installed on a 2012 Honda Fit.
I have a couple hitch cargo carriers that will fit a Class I 1-1/4 inch hitch, but none will be a folding design. All of the hitch cargo carriers that are designed for a Class I 1-1/4 inch hitch will not be able to fold. The folding design of the cargo carrier requires at least a Class III hitch that has a higher weight capacity.
The cargo carrier I recommend for use with the Fit is the Curt 20x48 Cargo Carier # C18110 because it will fit the Class I hitch on a Fit and will help you transport your containers around the campground. This cargo carrier features a shank rise of 3-3/4 to help with ground clearance and has a capacity greater than the hitches available for your car. The hitch and model year Fit can offer variations, but this carrier will add approximatley 22-1/2 inches to the back of the vehicle for a Fit. You will also need to support your carrier with the strap # 18050 when in use.
I am including links to the installation instructions and links to video reviews of both of the hitch cargo carriers.
