What Type of Trailer Wiring Connector Clamps Down to Connect to Wires

Updated 07/10/2020 | Published 07/08/2020

Question:

Hello. I have a 2017 Jayco Travel Trailer that Im looking to replace this LED light on. I had previously ordered 2 red clearance markers and have installed them. When replacing the factory red ones I had to connect the wires to a small w-shaped clip about the size of a small thumb tack where one of light wires would be placed into one slot and the factory trailer wire would be placed into the other slot on the clip. The clip then provided the necessary electrical contact. Both wires were then placed into a small plastic cover that snaps over the small clip and wires. Given this set up I have, Im wondering if there is a special tool that is needed to make the installation easier as it was difficult to try to get both the replacement wire and trailer wires connected securely and placed back into the plastic cover. Sorry, I didnt think about taking a picture of the clip and set up it to assist in my question. I was just happy to get it done and working, but now i have to order another one and likely more in the future. Any help is appreciated Thank you for your time.

Sounds like you are describing quick splice connectors like the part # SWC501925-1 which are a pretty standard and easy design most of the time. To make the connection you just set the two wires in the slots and use pliers to close the lid and your set. This part number actually strips the wires too.
