Question:
I need a new distribution hitch. I’ve looked at the recurve r6, and the blue ox underslung swaypro. At the dealer. I have a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 hd LT Z71 with the duramax. And crew cab with long bed. My camper is a 2017 Jayco jay flight 33RBTS. 10,000 lbs. the dealer recommended the 1000lb system for the recurve r6 and 1500lb for blue ox. My old system was a Reese but not heavy enough. You guys are cheaper on the ox and have been really good to me in the past. So my question is will the blue ox give me the best outcome, or do you recommend something else? We tow flat highway and some mountains here in Virginia. Looking for great ride , sway control and ease of use.

Thanks for clarity on your situation. I looked up your 2017 Jayco Jay Flight 33RBTS and see the dry hitch weight is 865 and will be heavier when loaded. You also need to account for any weight behind the rear axle of your truck as that will add to the "total tongue weight" you need to add to your tongue weight for a weight distribution system. You also want that total tongue weight to fall as close to the middle of the range rating of the weight distribution system. Your loaded tongue weight will be close to 1000 lbs or just over, so I recommend going with a larger system.
My recommendation because you will be using for sway control is the Strait-Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - No Shank - Trunnion Bar - 15K GTW, 1,500 lbs TW # RP66130. This system is rated for 800-1500 lbs so it would be a great fit. This system will use Reese Weight Dist Shank - 12-1/4" Long - 2" Drop to 6-1/2" Rise - 1,500 lbs TW # RP54970 and hitch ball # C40030. This is the best system for sway control because it actively works with the dual cams to keep the trailer aligned.
If you have a 2-1/2 inch receiver, I recommend the # RP54977 shank.
