Question:
I have a Kia Sorento V6 AWD 2019. The hitch receiver center 2” hitch is only 10 inches above ground. I want to attach a small motorcycle carrier. They are usually close to 3 feet deep. I need to raise the receiver center to 19 or 20 inches. What would be your recommendation? Bike weighs 260 lb.Thanks

Expert Reply:
The Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver # MPG544 will give you 7-1/2 inches from hitch pin to hitch pin. Using an adapter will reduce the tongue weight of your hitch by 50% however, so you will need a hitch that is rated to handle that loss. I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98843 which is rated for up to 750 lbs tongue weight.
Then I recommend using the etrailer Motorcycle Carrier w/ Ramp for 2" Hitch - 77-3/4" Long - Steel - 500 lbs # e98873 which gives different depth options with the 3 hitch pin holes. Then for tie downs I recommend the Erickson Motorcycle and ATV Tie-Downs w Soft Ties and TCS Buckles - 1"x6' - 400 lbs - Qty 2 # EM05729.
