Erickson Hitch Cargo Carrier - EM65MJ

Features:

  • Carrier holds 1 small motorcycle and gas can not exceeding 500 lbs
    • Weight of the motorcycle or scooter must be evenly balanced on the load track

Not Recommended. Cannot sustain the weight of a larger dirt bike, CRF450. Spec's say up to 500lbs. My Honda CRF weighs about half that. After a few months the metal has become fatigued, warping and coming apart from the seams. The receiver tube is now warped and bending. Afraid my bike will get destroyed and cause vehicle damage if this hauler breaks apart while driving down the highway. This receiver hitch does not last. Maybe if you haul a 125cc or under bike.

The mount was light and easy to install. Easy to attach and detach as needed.
Fit loose in my RVs 2 inch hitch and sagged over time from my 350 lb motorcycle to the point of nearly dragging on the road. Metal of main tube is two thin to carry a proper motorcycle, probably best for light bikes less than 200 lbs. Had to buy anther mount after 4 months.

    Hey Ryan! The best solution here is to use the Gen-Y Stacked Receivers # 325-GH-504 or # 325-GH-505. You can mount this in the rise position and use your ball mount at the bottom to tow your trailer with the Erickson Motorcycle Carrier # EM65MJ installed above it. As far as I know, there are no carriers that have a receiver attached to them which is why this is the best option. Also, the Gen-Y doesn't reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch like other adapters. What dirt bike...

However, to haul a motorcycle and pull a trailer at the same time you'll have to use the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers item # D210, which has a 750 lbs tongue weight capacity. This would include the weight of the carrier 53 lbs and your motorcycle.

    No, we do not Brian. The Erickson Motorcycle Carrier item # EM65MJ would be the only thing we have with that kind of capacity but it's not going to clear your Jeep's spare tire. You can't use a hitch extender with it either. Unless you're willing to take your spare off when you're using the carrier, I do not have any options for you.
