Correct Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System For Trailer with 6,000 Lb GVWR

Published 06/20/2020

Question:

My travel trailer is 5995 GVW so I might have up to 780 lbs hitch weight 13 before considering the effects of the WD hitch - should I go up to the 10K Equal-i-zer and deal with the stiffer ride or can I go with the 6K version even tho hitch weight could be above the 600 lbs hitch limit on the 6k version? Thanks!

Expert Reply:

The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System part # EQ37100ET which is rated for 10K is what I recommend using on a trailer with GVWR of 6,000 lbs. This system would not be too stiff at all for this size trailer, it is in fact the perfect size. If you ask Equal-i-zer, they'll tell you to go one size up from what you think you need in most cases.
