Choosing Between the 550 lb and 750 lb Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System
Published 04/02/2020 >
Question:
I have a Silverado 2500 towing a 4500# trailer. Tongue weight loaded is 500-550#. I also carry about 50-100# of stuff in the bed behind the rear axle. Looking primarily at sway control with weight distribution a secondary consideration. Im looking at the Blue Ox BXW0550 or BXW0750. Is better to be at the high end of the weight rating of the BXW0550 or the low end of the BXW0750?

The Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System part # BXW0750 which is rated for 550 lbs - 750 lbs is what I recommend for a trailer with 550 lb tongue weight and around 100 lbs in the truck bed. In regards to choosing the best weight distribution system, it's best to be in the middle of the system but so long as you are not over the capacity you will be totally fine. Generally speaking, it's better to use a system that is rated for a bit more than you need so you can add more weight to the truck/trailer down the road.
