Yes, the 53" Thule GateMate Pro Tailgate Pad # TH823PRO will fit your 2017 Honda Ridgeline.

The top part of this pad is definitely waterproof. It feels like a heavy duty vinyl and it is very durable. The underside has a soft fabric that is designed to keep the finish on your truck from getting damaged. If you were to drive in a rainstorm with this on the pickup then that would definitely soak up water and you'd want to take it off and let it air dry.

So the GateMate isn't necessarily waterproof, but water won't hurt it and letting it air dry is more or less to help keep things like mold from growing in a cool and damp environment.
