Question:

2012 Toyota Tacoma regular cab, 2nd generation Hello, Could you please tell me the distance between the hitch arms on the Curt 13323? The length between the frame rails OD on my truck is 37 5/8. I previously bought the same hitch from Amazon and the hitch arm distance was too narrow 37. I was wanting to know the designed spec distance between the hitch arms. Thank you

Most likely the Curt hitch part # 13323 that you tried to install was bent in shipping as that hitch is a fit for your vehicle and unfortunately hitches do sometimes get bent in shipping. We see this pretty often and would explain why the flanges of the hitch you tried were 5/8 of an inch to close together. The correct distance is 37-5/8 inches like what you have.

Normally we recommend applying controlled force to bend the hitch back as long as you don't see any signs of fatigue in the metal like creases or paint flaking you would be fine.

What do you mean by "controlled force" to bend the hitch back? I'm having the same problem.

@JonH Basically you need leverage to bend it back. Sometimes an open stairwell can work as you can put part of the hitch between the steps to apply leverage. Or if there's a way to use a jack to push flanges apart if needed that can work too.
