According to the owner's manual, a 2018 Ford Escape cannot be flat towed, and you can only tow the front-wheel drive models behind a motorhome on a tow dolly.
I highly recommend the - Demco Kar Kaddy X Tow Dolly # DM9713093 or Kar Kaddy SS Tow Dolly # DM9713045 because of how much easier they are to use than other dollies. The Kar Kaddy 3 tilts down and the Kar Kaddy SS has a ramp so you can simply drive up the dolly and secure your car on it.
These dollies also have a simple surge coupler to activate the hydraulic brakes on the dolly so there is no messy wiring to worry about.
