Question:
Im buying a trailer hitch for my 2018 Ford Explorer. There seems to be many options for wiring harnesses for the trailer lights. Any suggestions on how to whittle down the list?

Expert Reply:
The trailer wiring harness options for a 2018 Ford Explorer can be narrowed down to two categories, models with the tow package and models without the tow package. If you don't have a trailer hitch then you won't have the tow package therefore I recommend using the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56172 if you only need a 4-way or part # C56306 for a 7-way. These options are both plug-n-play. That said, you'd also need a trailer mounting bracket to install either option, part # C57202 along with part # 18144 or part # 18138.
