Availability of Replacement for Shelby Jack with Weld-On Bracket
Updated 05/08/2020 | Published 05/07/2020 >
Question:
I could not find a serial number on it, but picture are attached. Would prefer to not have to remove and pay for a re-weld of new baseplate to use the ring style. And a slightly longer one would be good too. If there is not an exact replacement, what do you recommend for a 2002 1800 Lund Fisherman, 1700lbs dry weight? lastly, what are the pros/cons to weld on vs. bolt on?

I did some checking but it doesn't look like there are any trailer jacks that use that exact same method to attach the jack to the bracket so I recommend replacing the jack with the Fulton Bolt-Thru Swivel Marine Jack # FXP10W0301 and using the Weld-On Jack Mounting Bracket # P9012-00 for the installation.
Basically the difference between welding a bracket and using a bolt-on installation is that a weld-on is much more secure and you don't have to worry about keeping tabs on the mounting hardware to make sure it's still secured. The biggest advantage of a bolt-on is that it's an easier installation and you don't have to have a professional welder install it. This means that it's easier to swap out jacks in the future, but I mean if the Shelby that you're replacing is the original jack then you've almost gone 20 years without needing to replace anything so that's something to consider as well.
I've attached some review videos for you to check out.
