Clearance Required To Install TorkLift StableLoad on 2004 GMC Sierra Denali

Question:

There's a lot going on with my rear axle. I have an 04 Sierra Denali with the Quadrasteer system. I tried the RAS, but they didn't fit over my springs since they sit so close to the Quadrasteer components on the inside of the wheel. My lower overload spring is 2-3/4 inch wide by about 1 inch thick, measured about 3 inches from the end. I need to know how much space the Stable Loads will take up on either side so I know if I have enough clearance and also how I will need to install them. From what I read, I can install them so that the plates either swing out towards the center of the axle or toward the wheel, right?

We measured the TorkLift StableLoad # TLA7310S and found that from the center of the mounting hole to the furthest edge is 3-5/8 inches on one side, and 2-1/8 inches on the other side. To determine if the StableLoad will clear your Quadrasteer components on your 2004 GMC Sierra, measure from the center of the factory lower overload spring, out the same number of inches I mentioned above, this is the space that will be taken up by them. It is important that the StableLoad has at least 1 inch of clearance around obstacles such as the frame, tire, mud flaps, brake lines, and exhaust when it is both engaged and disengaged. I've attached a couple of photos to illustrate.

Stable Loads are designed to work on lower overload springs up to 3-3/8 inch wide, so your 2-3/4 inch wide springs are well within this measurement.

In regard to the mounting orientation, you are correct in that the StableLoads can be installed on either the inside (frame side) or outside (tire side) of the spring. Which side is used will depend on the available clearance around the spring on your truck.
