Can Dutton-Lainson Roller Bunks be Installed on Top of Carpeted Wooden Bunks

Question:
I have a 18 foot 2300lb 95 Maxum 1800SR. I have carepeted 8 foot bunks. I want to install the bunker rollers. Do I have to remove the carpet from the existing bunks to install? Also, will installing 4 bunker rollers be sufficient for the weight?

Expert Reply:
You can install the 4' Long Boat Trailer Standard Roller Bunks # DL21754 directly on top of your carpeted wooden bunks (without removing the carpet first). These have a weight capacity of 2,500 lbs per set so 4 roller bunks would be very sufficient for your 2,300 lb boat.
Please note that this will raise the ride height of your boat so if that is going to be an issue you can just remove your wooden bunks and mount these roller bunks to the same mounting brackets.
