Question:
The diesel truck gvwr is 9900#. It is 4x4 with SRW and short box 3.42 ratio 6 speed auto transmission. Owners manual states max towing at 17,810 and max payload of 2890#. I am having difficulty in determining the max pin weight for my truck. Suggestions? Thanks

The maximum pin weight for your 2015 Ram 2500 with the diesel engine can vary depending on how exactly the truck is equipped. This isn't typically something that's listed in the owner's manual but I can say that it almost always corresponds to its overall towing capacity, meaning as long as you stay under the 17,810 towing limit you mentioned, the trailer's pin weight will be within the truck's limits as well.
With that being said I do still recommend trying to track down this number to be sure. A good resource for this is with a local Ram dealer. You can contact them with your VIN and they should be able to give you specific specs on the truck based on what it came equipped with from the factory.
If you don't yet have a 5th wheel hitch I highly recommend the B&W Companion Slider, either the OEM # BWRVK3670 that will drop right into the factory pucks in the truck bed if your Ram is so equipped or the Companion Slider # BWRVK3400-5W with the corresponding install kit # BWGNRK1384-5W (which also serves a gooseneck hitch when the 5th wheel is removed).
I really like the Companion because of its 1" thick dual jaw design that completely wraps around the trailer's king pin for an extremely secure attachment and a smooth, quiet ride during travel. Its sliding base provides 12" of travel to maintain cab clearance during sharp turns in your short bed truck and the unique cam-action latching handle is easy to release even on unlevel ground.
I have attached a couple short video reviews below that you can also check out.
I have also included a few links that will take you directly to our available 5th wheel hitches for your 2015 Ram 2500 (both with and without the factory pucks) along with suspension enhancement options if needed.
