Really want the aluminum gate but I see from my research it is no longer available for my year model 2003 Ram

The Stromberg Carlson # VGD-02-4000 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate would be the correct fit for your truck. The tailgate itself isn't paintable, but the available louver insert kit, part # 4000-V can be painted, which would give a pretty cool look. There is also an upper insert, part # VI-4000 that can be painted as well.
