Question:

It is now obvious that my bed rails are much higher on my 2019 F250 Super Duty FX4 6.7 turbo-diesel than on my 2003 V10 4X4 Super Duty and that I will most certainly have to flip the trailers axles. The reason is my bed rails are 59inch high at the top and my trailer overhang is 59, leaving zero clearance space. I have measured my axles Dexter 3inch axles and my spring stack, which is only 1.5inch thick. This gives me a total clearance of 4.5inch just 1/2inch shy of the minimum 5inch requirement. Is there a way I can use spring shims or blocks to gain more height? I intend to use the K71-385-00 kit to accomplish this. Oh, by the way, the tailgate cap is itself 59.5inch above ground level! Please help! I am already sinking a lot of money into the truck for a new SuperGlide since I bought the shorter bed.

The Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Kit # K71-385-00 is a good start and should give you a good start on getting your trailer sufficiently above the bed rails on your new F-250. In order to get an additional 2" or so clearance I recommend using the Tandem Axle Lift Kit # RR23QX, which will extend the spring hangers on your leaf spring suspension to create the additional clearance you're seeking.

The other thing to consider to make sure that you're not sacrificing any ride quality would be adding the Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC279688 to replace the stock equalizers in your suspension system. In addition to creating a cushioned suspension system, these equalizers are taller than standard equalizers and will help create a bit more lift when used with the above mentioned components. They're not a required addition to this setup, but they're definitely going to help tie everything together to create less chucking and porpoising on the trailer when it's being towed.
