Question:
I have a 10000 lb travel trailer , is the shank strong enough for this towing weight, tow truck is a 2017 f350 super duty

Expert Reply:
Yes, the BOLT Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches # BL7023585 that you referenced would be strong enough for towing a 10,000 lb travel trailer like you have. Hitch pins like this don't normally have stated weight capacities as they typically do not carry the weight of the trailer like it might appear. The tongue weight of the trailer typically pushes so hard down in the hitch tube that the friction alone holds the ball mount in place and not the hitch pin.

This bad information and should be removed. I have personally bent multiple hitch receiver pins on 1 ton trucks.
