Question:

I am ordering the Rearc elite for install in my 2010 Expedition. Will order universal panel as well. How of mater will switch work without having to go to the panel?

The remote head of the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR can be mounted directly to the dashboard, to the center console, or through a spare knock-out switch panel. The Universal Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-001 can be used on dash panels that are up to 7mm (9/32 inches) thick.

If you choose to mount the remote head directly to your dash, or center console, the dash needs to have a thickness of 2 to 3mm (1/16 to 3/32 inches) and have at least 3-1/2 inches of space directly behind it to account for the control body and wiring. I've attached a couple pictures showing the dimensions of the control knob as well as other important dimensions to take into consideration when finding a suitable mounting location.

If your 2010 Expedition is equipped with a factory 7-way connector, you can use the vehicle specific wiring adapter # 3035-S. If your Expedition is equipped with a factory 4-flat instead, you'll also need part # 37185 to upgrade your existing 4-way to a fully functioning 7-way in order to complete your wiring for a brake controller.
