Replacement Thermostat Needed for 10 Gallon Atwood Gas/Electric Water Heater
Updated 11/18/2019 | Published 11/17/2019 >
Question:
When water heater is on lp setting, it lights and heats water great! But I noticed last trip it was not kicking off automatically anymore. It got the water so hot it started to put off a melting plastic smell. Would you recommend trying to replace the thermostat? And will this thermostat work on my Atwood water heater? It’s a gas and electric 10 gal. On a 2015 jayco eagle premiere sorry I do not have part number on hand. Thank you for your help!

It definitely sounds like you have a thermostat issue on your Atwood gas/electric 10 gallon water heater. I can't really vouch for the Camco RV Water Heater Thermostat # CAM08143 being compatible with your water heater but I can say that we have the Replacement Gas Regulator # 91602 which replaces the gas control valve and thermostat on the following Atwood gas/electric water heaters:
AT94022, AT94023, AT94186, AT96117, AT96161SU, or AT96163
You'll want to check any stickers on the water heater to confirm the model number. Other than that I don't really have a universal model that I can guarantee will work.
