Expert Reply:
Trailer tail lights usually have 2 different circuits routed to them; stop/turn and then the running (tail) lights. Since your turn light functions are working but the tail lights aren't that just means you need to troubleshoot that specific circuit.
Problems with a lighting circuit can be located on the tow vehicle or the trailer so you can determine which end to troubleshoot by testing the running (tail) light circuit on your vehicle trailer wiring connector with a circuit tester like part # PTW2979 (see attached photos). If only one side of your trailer isn't working properly the problem will be on your trailer side but if it's not use this step so you know where to look.
Once you have established which end of your towing setup is the issue you then need to check the wiring for any places where it is damaged, bent, or exposed and replace using wire # 16-1-1 and butt connectors # DW05744-5. Keep in mind that on your vehicle side your first step would be to check your fuses since that's the easiest.
If your wring looks good or you are still having issues after correcting your wiring then you'll also need to check your grounds to make sure that they are securely connected to a clean, bare-metal surface on your vehicle/trailer frame.
This should take care of your problem but if it doesn't just let me know and I can help you troubleshoot further. Attached is a link to a helpful article on wiring troubleshooting that you can check out.
