What Causes Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors Not To Thread In
Published 11/13/2019 >
Question:
I recently purchased these to convert turbo lube oil bath hubs to grease. When I started the install one of them I was able to start and screw in hand tight no problem. The other 3 however I can’t get but about half a turn before they stop. Any idea what the issue could be?

The Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors like part # BB2441T-SS are very easy to install as they are just a threaded fastener essentially. Therefore, if you are having issues with the threads engaging first make sure that the diameter is correct. Once this is done you will want to inspect the threads on both the hub and bearing protector to ensure none are damaged. If the size is correct and none of the threads are damaged then odds are you just need to clean the threads on the hub more to knock loose any dirt/debris.
I wish I had a better answer for you but the bearing protectors only install one way so there is not much to get wrong.
