Question:

Hi, considering purchasing the Andersen 3200 to be installed in a 2019 Ram 2500 short bed to tow a 32foot 5th wheel. Will the Curt universal rail kit work with the Andersen? What else is needed to complete install? Thanks

Yes, the Curt Universal Fifth Wheel Base Rails with Installation Kit # C16100 is compatible with the Anderson 3200 # AM3200. The Anderson 3200 has 9 inches of offset so it can help short bed trucks like yours make tight turns while towing a trailer.

While there are no additional parts required in order to install, the universal kit requires drilling while there are custom kits available that match up to existing holes in the frame like the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Ram Truck - Carbide Finish # C16427-204. With a newer vehicle this would probably be preferable.

It's always a good idea to refer to the below formula to determine if you have sufficient cab clearance.

(A + B) - C = Clearance
A = Distance from the center of the gooseneck ball to the truck cab
B = Offset used, (9 inches for the # AM3200)
C = Width of the nose of the trailer divided by 2.

You will need at least 4 inches of clearance to safely make a 90 degree turn.
