Question:
I recently bought a Curt 12362 hitch for my 2003 Chrysler Town and Country along with a Curt 45501 ball mount. Is this the correct hitch for my vechile? The problem is the ball mount is too low to the ground. If this is correct hitch, what do you recommend to raise the ball? Will it be safe to simply turn the ball mount upside down or is another ball mount recommended?

Expert Reply:
The Curt Class II Trailer Hitch, part # C12362, is the correct trailer hitch for your 2003 Chrysler Town and Country and the ball mount, part # C45521, is the recommended ball mount for that hitch.
It is perfectly safe to turn the ball mount upside down to gain more ground clearance. This is called using the ball mount in the rise position. It is recommended for your vehicle to use this ball mount in the rise position since the trailer hitch is low to the ground.
I do not recommend using the Curt Class II Drawbar, # C45501, that you purchased because Class I and Class II trailer hitches are designed and tested with one specific ball mount. According to Curt, using a different ball mount could void the warranty of the hitch if any damage were to occur.
