I would be happy to compare the Curt Spectrum # C51170 with part # C51515 and Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR brake controllers as well as make a recommendation for your 2019 Audi Q5.

To establish a starting point, both controllers are unique when compared to standard brake controllers because they can be mounted virtually anywhere. This is due to the box that the control knob connects to which can sense the direction of movement without having to be in a specific orientation.

The biggest differences have to do with the design of the control knob itself, and the functions of the brake controller. The Spectrum is a little more straightforward with a proportional setting and the ability to mount the control knob either by drilling or by using the adhesive on the back. The Tow-Pro Elite, on the other hand, doesn't have the adhesive mounting option but you can purchase the Universal Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-001 for a clean looking installation and then this controller has proportional and user-control (similar to time-delayed) settings so that you get the best braking action for your towing situation (trailer weight and terrain).

I recommend going with the Tow-Pro Elite because it simply has more to offer and has a smaller control knob that is easier to mount plus it looks more like an OEM fit when you use the mounting panel.

Aside from the brake controller you'll need a 4-Way like the Kit # 119250KIT which uses a smart technology that takes splicing out the equation, as well as the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7.
