Question:

Can I mount your spare tire carrier under a Ford F53 chassis motorhome?

The Lippert Components RV Spare Tire Carrier part # LC159041 is designed primarily for trailers so it would not be a good choice for your motorhome. The weight of the spare tire, size of the hub pilot, and frame spacing would all be an issue so I cannot recommend this. However, I do have an option for you in the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier part # RM-195225 which is designed specially for a motorhome spare wheel/tire so you know it will work for you as well. That said, there are really not a whole lot of spare wheel/tire carriers available for a motorhome.

Please note, the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier still retains the hitch receiver opening so you can flat-tow a vehicle for example if needed.

I have used the Roadmaster hitch tire carrier but currently need to tow 4500 lb tow vehicle. Use of tire carrier is supposed to de-rate hitch. My motor home tire (89 lbs) and Alcoa wheel (50 lbs) clocks in under 150. Why can’t a Lippert unit be fab’d in.

@JoeO Conner did a good job at explaining this when he said "The weight of the spare tire, size of the hub pilot, and frame spacing would all be an issue so I cannot recommend this.". The Roadmaster Hitch Spare Tire Mount # RM-195225 will be able to handle either of those tires and still allow you to flat tow a 4,500 lb vehicle.

@JonG Please refer to roadmaster installation instructions. Roadmaster advises death of at least 1/3 of previous rating…… 4500 lb vehicle does not fit within this. I also called roadmaster directly!

@JoeO Ah, I see what you mean now. I thought you were saying that the weight rating of the carrier was being reduced as opposed to the hitch receiver on your motorhome. You might end up needing to have a shop install a heavy duty hitch like the Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-on Hitch w/ Brackets # C47CR to accomplish what you're wanting to accomplish.
