Question:

Hi. I have a boatload of old Yakima gear kayak, bike, ski racks, all of which attach to a round-bar rack using the old snap-arounds. I also have a 2016 Toyota RAV4 Limited Hybrid with a factory roof rack. I found your site showing that Yakima Mighty Mounts, Item # Y03590, will fit my factory rack. Ive attached a photo of the rack it is 2.5inch front to back and about 0.5inch top to bottom. Will these mounts work with my roof rack? Can I connect my old Yakima gear to these mounts? If so, how does that work? From the photos on the website I dont see how the carriage-bolt/hex-key setup would fit. Thanks

The Yakima Universal MightyMounts # Y03590 will fit the factory crossbars on your 2016 Toyota RAV4. I've attached a photo of the MightyMounts installed on a customer's 2018 RAV4 with factory roof rack to demonstrate.

While the MightyMounts work to adapt most Yakima accessories that were originally intended for round bars, they are not compatible with certain carriers like the Yakima Kayak Stacekrs (single post style), Yakima Hullraisers and Yakima Anklebiters, for example.

Basically, the MightyMounts install in place of your old Yakima SnapAround Mounting Brackets # Y8810135. The MightyMounts come with several different pieces of hardware to adapt each accessory in a specific way, using a combination of the MightyMuonts and the accessory's hardware. As you can see in the example of the instructions for the Yakima HighRoller below.

I will email you the complete installation instructions which will allow you to determine which of your accessories are adaptable via MightyMounts.
