Question:
The wife and I just got a new 2020 Trailhawk that we are needing to flat tow behind our motorhome. What all will we need to do this? It seems like the list just keeps getting longer.

I would be happy to assist you in a list of parts needed to flat tow your 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. A complete flat towing setup includes a tow bar, safety cables, base plate kit, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and sometimes a high-low adapter.
The tow bar I recommend using for your application is the Demco Dominator Tow Bar # DM9511008 because it has non-binding arms, is rated for 7,500 lbs, has a lightweight aluminum construction (which means it will last a long time), has adjustments in the head to eliminate the need for an adapter, is made in the USA, and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. To connect this to your Trailhawk you need the Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit # DM9519340.
The tow bar has integrated safety cables so this leaves you with just the wiring and a braking system. For wiring I recommend the Tow Bar Combo Kit # DM9523057 which stays installed on your Jeep and connects to your motorhome via the umbilical. This kit also comes with locks and a cover for the tow bar to help extend the life and security of your setup.
Then for a braking system I recommend either using the Air Force One # SM99243 if the motorhome has air brakes or the Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 if the motorhome has hydraulic brakes. These systems remain installed on your Jeep when you aren't towing and are connected when you need to flat tow just as easily as the wiring system mentioned above. Even though they stay on your vehicle, they install out of the way so that you don't even notice they are there during normal use of your Trailhawk.
I have attached some sample installation videos for you to check out. Please note that some models of the Cherokee may use Mortorq® fasteners. If your Trailhawk has these types of fasteners, you will need a PFMTS2E bit to remove them which can be ordered through a Snap-On dealer.
