Where Does Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Mount on 1966 Ford F-100 Frame

Published 10/16/2019

Question:

I have a 66 F100 short bed fleetside with a Mustang gas tank where the spare tire was, does this hitch fit inside or outside of the frame?

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # 75034 actually mounts to the underside of the 1966 Ford F-100 frame so since it looks like your gas tank is completely inside the frame you'll be able to mount the trailer hitch.

I took a trip out to the warehouse for a few different dimensions I thought you might like since it looks like you're doing some modifications. The crosstube of the trailer hitch sits roughly 2-3/4" below where it mounts to the frame and then the closest edge of the crosstube is about 1-1/4" away from that rearmost bolt hole while the furthest edge is about 3-3/4" away from that same bolt hole. I have attached a dimensional diagram for you to reference.
