The Derale transmission pan cooler, # D14210, fits a 1998 Dodge Ram as long as it is equipped with one of the following transmissions: A518 (46RH or 46RE), A618 (47RH, 47RE, or 48RE), or A727 (36RH or 37RH). You can have a dealership run the VIN to determine the transmission on the truck.
From the research I did, the transmissions used in the diesel motor Rams for 1998 were the A618/47RE, so the pan should fit your truck. If you will be going onto terrain that is at a 45 degree angle or more, you will want to use the filter extender, # D14010.
