Can my front wheel drive 2012 Jeep compass with a 5 sp trans and after market tow-hitch pull a 1600lb boatand trailer?

You'll want to check your owner's manual for confirmation, but from what I was able to find out from my research, your 2012 Jeep Compass has a towing capacity of 1000-lbs. If that is confirmed by your owner's manual, you won't be able to safely tow a boat and trailer weighing 1600-lbs without damaging your vehicle.

When towing, you are always limited by the lowest rated component in the setup. In this case you may have an aftermarket hitch like the Curt # C13081 with a 4000-lb towing capacity, but since your vehicle is only rated to tow 1000-lbs, you're going to be limited to 1000-lbs.
