Snow Chains/Cables Recommendation for 315-75-16 Tires

Question:

I have a truck with new all terrain tires . I am interested in snow cables since they are light weight and I do not drive on snow or icy conditions too often, but would like to have them for when I do. Are there any good recommendations for snow cables for tire size 315/75r/16? Thanks

For snow chain cables that are a fit for your 315/75-16 tires, I'd recommend the # TC3031 from Titan Chain. These chains carry a 'Class S' designation and are specifically designed for vehicles with tight clearance between the tire and the wheel well and the inside of the tire and the suspension components. The cables should be installed on the drive wheels of the vehicle and on a 4x4 vehicle, they'd be installed on the rear wheels but you could use them on all 4 wheels if you wish. Adjusters, like part # TCSA2 are also recommended.

As an alternative, you might consider the # TC2337 square link tire chains. The square chain links do a better job of gripping the snow and ice and the diamond pattern provides better lateral stability. These only weigh about 3 more lbs than the cables, are more durable and are easier to install at about the same cost.

Before purchasing chains, be sure to check your vehicle owner's manual for any limitations or specific guidelines for snow chain usage. I'd also recommend familiarizing yourself with the install procedure in the driveway or garage so that if you ever need to install them during bad weather, you'll already be familiar with the process.
