Wiring Tow Vehicle to Work With Tekonsha Prodigy RF # 90250

Can a flat four pin plug work with this brake controller if we use an adapter that switches the vehicles flat 4 pin into a 7 pin plug. Knowing that only the running lights, brake, and turn signals will be working out of the 7 pin adapter. Assuming we also ground the lead coming out of the adapter Will this brake controller work?

You are pretty much on the right track. You will indeed need a 4-pole to 7-way adapter like part # 37185. In addition to the lighting functions provided by the 4-pole, you will also need to run the black 12-V power wire from the adapter to the positive battery terminal via a 40 amp circuit breaker like part # 9510. A length of 10 gauge wire like part 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) would also be needed. The power wire is needed to supply the power module mounted on the trailer. The white wire with the ring terminal would be grounded to the vehicle frame.

Hopefully, the diagram I produced for you will make it a bit more clear.

I will link you to the install instructions for the Prodigy RF- be sure to closely examine the section about pairing the vehicle and the trailer. I've also linked you to an installation video.
