Are Propane Regulators Affected by Altitude
Updated 09/13/2019 | Published 09/12/2019 >
Question:
If you reset the regulator at 8000 ft. Will it lower the amount of propane going to the appliances than at sea level?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Altitude won't have any affect on your JR Products Automatic Changeover propane regulator # 37207-30395 ; even with changes in altitude the regulator will keep the flow the same.
If you're experiencing an issue with your propane when traveling in the mountains, it could be because the combustible mixture (propane + air) becomes very rich (too much propane to air) at altitude, since the air is thinner than at sea level. The rich mixture is difficult to ignite so if you're spending a lot of time at high altitudes you may want to see about getting your propane from someone in the mountains near your site who likely has a mix that will work at that altitude or higher.
