Question:

Hi, I have a 2014 nissan murano which did not come with a factory tow option. It does have an aftermarket 4pin wiring and hitch installed. I purchased a new trailer which has electric brakes whcih I would like to take advantage of. I have been looking at both wired and wireless brake controllers. Any suggestions on controllers which are easier to install and reliable, also any suggestions on an option to go from my 4pin to 7 wiring? Thanks!

I definitely recommend a wireless brake controller for your 2014 Nissan Murano, the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 in particular. The Curt Echo is the easiest to install option we have for you and it will be very simple to use, more so than any other option for a first time user. In regards to reliability, the Curt Echo has a lifetime warranty so there should be no concerns here either.

In order to install the Curt Echo, I recommend the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation part # ETBC7L. The only wires that must be attached on this adapter once you plug the two 4-ways into each other are the ground and then power wire which gets ran to the battery. If you were using a wired brake controller then you would have to run wires into the cab, then from the cab to the battery, and to the stop light circuit behind the brake pedal.
